Opportunity for a miracle!
The funds for our airfare, $10,000 need to be in by July 1st. We originally thought the funds needed to be in by sometime in August. While it seems impossible for all that money to come in so quickly, we are choosing to look at it as an opportunity to see a real live miracle! It doesn't really matter to God whether He has two days or two months to provide the funds...it's all the same to Him. We serve a God of miracles and we are expecting one. Watch and see with us.

What are you going to do in Bombo?
We decided we should put a copy of our letter we are sending out on the blog. That way, our blog says exactly what we are doing in Uganda. So here goes....
Can you imagine attending a church where at least 70% of the families are infected with HIV or AIDS? How many in your inner circle of friends are affected by malaria or TB? What is the average monthly income of your family? My guess is more than $30 per month for a family of four. Do these questions make you feel uncomfortable? We hope so!
These questions made us uncomfortable and we have decided to do something about it. We are excited to share with you the opportunity that has been given to us. God has called our family to share the love of Jesus Christ with the people of Uganda on a short-term mission trip. Our church, Saddleback Community, will be taking a team September 13th to 26th to minisiter in Bombo, Uganda. The couple we will be traveling with has made numerous trips since 2005. They have an established relationship with Pastor Alex Ojera and his wife Millie from Bombo Pentecostal Church. God is moving in mighty ways there. Since 2005, the church has grown from about 100 people to over 700!
While in Uganda we will help where needed. The Ojeras have requested assistance with establishing a Vacation Bible School program and help with their new preschool. Of course there will be many opportunities for ministering to the sick, feeding the poor, passing our Bibles and anything else God sends our way. Our children, Jordan and Hannah are excited to share Jesus with kids of Uganda. Michael and I could not be happier about exposing our kids to missions and planting seeds in their hearts we pray will grow into a lifetime desire to serve our Lord.
For this to happen we need you to partner with us. May we count on you to faithfully pray for this endeavor? We are looking to God for the provision of funds for this trip. We desire to be faithful in serving Him. If you feel God speaking to your heart and wish to support us in any way, we would be honored. All financial contributions are tax deductible. Please make checks to Saddleback Church. Send them to us at our home address. Please do not put our name anywhere on the check.
If you have any questions, we would love to talk with you. Thanks so much for reaching out to the people of Uganda!

How can we reach out?
Our church is planting a new campus in Irvine and we are helping get that started. The first official Sunday is Easter Sunday, however, we had a practice run this last weekend. Pastor Rick's message was "How Can We Reach Out Together With God's Love?" What a great message! It confirmed to us we are walking in the right direction, which is always exciting. The first two points especially hit home.
1. We can reach out by offering physical assistance. James 1:27 says; "Real religion, the kind that God accepts as pure, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless orphans and widows when they suffer, and remain uncorrupted by this world."
Did you know God is watching to see how we meet the physical needs of people?
2. We can reach out by offering emotional support. "Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law." Galatians 6:2
You are fulfilling these commandments of Christ by coming along side our family. YOU are reaching the homeless, orphans, widows and oppressed in Uganda by walking the road to Bombo with us by praying and giving financially. Thank you so much!

In the begining...
We are preparing to leave on a road trip. The biggest one of our lives! In September my husband, ten year old son Jordan and seven year old daughter Hannah, will be traveling to Bombo, Uganda. God has called us to serve Him in this life changing experience. We will be working with the Bombo Pentecostal Church. Please pray for us as our family gets ready to minister to the many people with HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB and other diseases, feed the poor, pass out Bibles and share the love of Jesus.
We'll keep you posted. Thanks for reading!
